Understand Hierarchy Inside Animation Studios

Understanding the pyramid of authority in the workplace is CRUCIAL for communication and proper organization. Hierarchical structures are a valuable concept. They help teams work better and avoid power struggles.

Today we will be speaking about how Animation Studios behave (Visual Effects or Feature animation) and the social construct that guides the pyramid of decision-making inside productions.

Side notes: Sometimes in studios you get an Animation Director, (which goes on top of the department supervisor) and sets the tone for the animation style of the production, oversees animation in all the locations the projects are being made at and has to approve things before they pass on to the VFX Supervisor.

Sometimes you have a Digital Effects (DFX) Supervisor who oversees that all VFX departments in all company locations working on a project collaborate effectively to deliver something under the original budget and ensure good communication happens at all times between the VFX Supervisor, artists, production team, and department supervisors.
